Pizza Express Jazz Club, W1D 3RW , [Venue Details]2 album releases, 2 national tours and recipients of 2 awards from Help Musicians, ‘Aspyrian’ are fast gaining a reputation as one of the most ambitious new acts to emerge on the UK jazz scene.
This performance at PizzaExpress Dean Street will celebrate the release of a new album (recorded live in 2024) – ‘Jazz at the Glad Festival’. The EP features five original compositions previously released on their two studio albums – ‘to explore (vol. 1 & 2)’. Aspyrian will be playing a mixture of these songs – now so familiar to the band to allow for expansive improvisations and risk-taking – as well as new tunes, which further deepen the ensemble’s original voice.
Formed by long-standing friends and collaborators, Aspyrian are a London-based trio that have been performing in various contexts together for almost 15 years. As well as drawing inspiration from many contemporary jazz artists, the band are influenced by an eclectic mix of soulful songwriters and alternative bands, resulting in an ensemble sound that is captivating and truly unique.
